Done at the Christmas Tree farm:detecting::please:

Well I finished the last 7 rows of the Christmas Tree farm this morning. I have been working it of and on since Feb '08. I found about a pound and a half of mixed brass / copper for the scrap bucket and 2 cents today. It was a good run while it lasted. I found some great coins and relics over there, Barber, Seated Liberty, Indian and Wheat. I'll go back again maybe with a different detector.

the Christmas Tree farm: what led you to it and how did you obtain permission
It is close to my house. I have known the family who owns it all my life. The Mom was my school teacher. I found out there was a large barn and corrals there for years in the early part of CA history. One of the sons was walking by my house one day and he gave me permission. I still have 5 acres or so on the right side but the area outside of where the barn and corrals were aren't very productive.

I've bought 3 gold coins and a small cache of nuggets. And a few silver coin. All with MD $$$. No more for a while, saving for a different detector.

Maybe a Fisher F-70. I am taking my time and doing a lot of reading. I want one I can ground balance in the dessert but also works good for small gold. Any suggestions?

I have been watching the f70 and go on the fisher forum to see who is using one in Ohio and see how they are doing seems to be a hot machine.I run ace 250 whites mxt and idx.

... our good friend John, from W Va., took the F-70 plunge not long ago and has some very interesting things to say about the unit. Since this is a Garrett forum, if you wish to read them, PM me and Ill send them to you with his permisson.

Yeah when Fisher made Fishers I field tested a few. They were primo machines. Can't say the same now that Bounty Hunter churns them out. JMHO.
