Got the chance to get out the other day, and the AT PRO did great, hit some nice gold. Another small 10k sweetheart ring, and a 10k mans ring with 11 diamonds. Both came in with a good clear hard signal, small one was 42-43 and the lager one hit around 52-53. Sure wish I could get out more, work has kept me so busy I have been neglecting the detector.

Also, who has experience with the Gray Ghost Amphibians? I am thinking about getting some and would like some real world opinions of them, I don't like the Garrett headphones very much. I want an upgrade I can use on land and don't have to worry about if I get them wet, also I want good clear sounds that are pleasing to my ear.

Man! Glad to see you are getting out and getting into it! You sure have a great year going...50gr. is a remarkable haul for one year of part time detecting! :surprised: Hows your Dad doing on his count?

I would hate to even guess his total, he hit 8 men's class rings this year, and had a week and a half when he hit 9 gold rings. The gold buyer tells me when I come in, that he has been in and sold another 1k to him. I bet he has easily hit 40-45 rings this year and probably 3-4k in scrap.
 
Amazing! Give him our congratulations! Well, the apple didnt fall too far from the tree in any case..you will be able to hunt all winter right? I hope so, we are nearly done and will be needing some inspiration!

I sure will, and yes we hunt all winter here, my only problem is my work has me in 12 hours of school and working 6 days a week, so my time is slim. Plus deer season is here too lol
 
Another thing is, I have only found 10k with my ATP, curious as that is, I bet is has to do with the fact that 10k is made into more jewelry than any other carrot. So probably more of it lost than any other, and it's cheaper also, so probably people would be more willing to buy it than say 14k or 18k.

I went to the GGA's this year and ended up selling my blue UW garrett phones. Keeping the origonal stock phones for a spare set. It took a little getting used to GGA's and honestly I find it hard to describe the difference in tones but there is. Maybe a little softer? I keep the volume at max. The build quality with the volume control should please those who consider switching. At least no more swapping, they are on full time, block out ambient noise well and are comfortable. I run them GGA's on my Excal 2. Just make sure you get the amphibian and not the "underwater" (GGU's) model. See the threads in beach & water or mods section of the forums.
