Goldstrike

Well-known member
Metal detected the base of some steps yesterday at the back of a 100 year old house and get a '15'....Oh no not another pulltab. I dig anyway and out comes a 10K old gold ring! The moral of the story is dig the 15's!! It just might have had a diamond/s attached to this ring!!!!!

'Ya gotta dig 'em.... I hit gold at 14, other gold I tested comes in at 15-16. If it's in the ballpark dig them. Congrats on your ring.

Thanks! I wished it was a 14K or 18K but I'll take a 10K anyday!.....Coin....Sens 12...Trash Dens...High It was a steady 15 with no bouncing, 3 inches down in gravelly sandy soil. I've come to find out that when you have a gold target, there is just something about the tone, it's just a little different to pulltabs. There used to be a swimming pool in this back yard many years ago and this is just a guess but because I found it at the bottom of the step I think a swimmer put their ring on the last step and it got kicked off and there it stayed for who knows how long! Long enough for it to sink 3 inches into the ground at least!

Gold can be had on the meter from low foil to zinc penny and thats why there are gold rings to be found..Yep my gold wedding ring reads the same...to increase your chances that area just below nickle the foil region contains about 1/3 of the gold rings most of which are womens thin rings and many with good stones so never let a foil hit go by especially if it hits hard...
