I just sent a postal money oreder to a person in Nebraska ....He tells me that the banks will not cash it that ti has to be deposited for 5 business days ....Is Nebraska a foreign country or something ? .....Do they NOT know how to check the validity of a Postal Money Order ? .....YIKES !!....Jim

That's nuts!!!---What bank does this guy bank at??---I've done ka-zillion deals being paid by USPO money orders and my bank has cashed every last one of them.---I've went to cash them at the post office though and they told me to go to the bank to cash it (USPO money order).-----Something really smells of fish here though--the bank wanting to hold a USPO MONEY ORDER till it clears???---I think this guy better change banks!-----------Del

I cash USPO money orders all the time by just driveing thru the "drive in" window at the bank.---Just present them with the money order & I.D. and they cash them "on the spot"--I don't even have to get out of the car.----The only reason that the post office wouldn't cash a USPO money order was that they said they didn't have that much money "on hand" & asked me to go to the bank to cash it.---As already stated, I can't imagine ANY bank not cashing a USPO money order "on the spot"-----Five day clearance period??? hmmm------Could see that happening with a personal check or even a cashiers check but not a USPO money order.---------Del

There is one possibilty.....if he doesnt have an account at that bank orrrrrrrrrr doesnt have funds to cover it...in case it doesnt clear/fraud etc.....the bank is covering themselves. Thats why theres so more scams as people deposit checks and then the bank finds out days later, theres no money to cover it/or doesnt exist or something....then they charge the depositor for the paid out funds....its happens a lot!!!! Like millions of dollars.

There has been cases of usps money order and ups etc bogus checks....If its a usps money order....any post office can cash it and check validity.

Actually the USPS has information online that tells how to check the validity of a Poatal Money Order ....... The bank claims that there are too many bogus Postal Money Orders floating around ......If there is only one way of checking if the M.O. is valid , what's the deal ? ...... Jamesbondaka , Even if this guy did not have any money to cover the M.O. , it should STILL be backed by the US Government if it checks out to be a valid Postal Money Order ...... Are these conterfieters now able to produce watermark paper ? ....... I asked him to give me the name and address of the bank and I would call them and educate them ....He sent me the detector that I purchased from him ....It's on it's way to me .....Crazy !!.....Jim

The bank can usually tell if its a ligit usps money order but not in all cases....there has been some very crafty bogus money orders out there. I agree if the post office checks out the money order....they would pay it on the spot. I wouldnt waste my time at the bank.....everyplace has post offices and they can tell the real deal or not.

Good luck!
