Don't Ya All Be Jealous Now :detecting:

I'm learning a Fisher Coin$trike and figured I'd loot a local tot lot this afternoon with the 4" coil.

I ended up with a whopping $1.49 in modern coins, lots of foil (can't quite figure out why it finds foil, even though it's notched out), a fishing weight, a toy train car, and several other treasures.

A couple of items I'm amazed it hit on:

a staple
a Levi's jeans rivet
tiny bell or bracelet charm
tiny fishing weight

The only thing I notched out was foil, which as you can tell by the photo is still hit, not sure why that is.

I have to say I'm humbled by the gold rings, and silver coins you guys find :please:

This isn't as cut and dried as people think. even notching something out doesn't mean you won't ever dig it. Type of dirt, moisture, luck, and any number of unknowns will affect what you dig.
That is one reason why I don't use machines that allow notching... but that is just my personal preference.

Bottom line.... Just have fun !! and Craig is correct ... gold sounds like foil so I always dig it. ..... and YES ... we all dig a lot of crap.
Just part of the game... and some of my best finds have come when I was digging a lot of crap as well.

Good Luck !

....There is no detector made yet that can ever completely notch out foil. There is just too many shapes and sizes of foil that it can never be totally notched out.
And, quite frankly you really do not want to notch out too much in that range. That range is also where the gold is found.
Dig the foil, learn your detector and eventually you will be able to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Enjoy and happy hunting.
