Earlier this year I detected a ghost town with no luck. Most of the town has been dozed over. I know where those piles are. I plan to hunt one sometime this year. No doubt it will be full of metal. One could probably sit on top with a pro pointer and go to town, not even needing a detector. I plan on taking a five gallon bucket and spend an hour or two digging everything. If nothing good shows up ill call it quits. Any of you ever detect such a place? Ill be using the Vaquero and 5.75 coil.

Dozer piles and a Vaquero

Any of you ever detect such a place? YES they dug up the old hotel and dumped 10 piles of topsoil it was full of nails tabs all kinds of junk , and i just started in disc 1st and found a mercury dime then i started digging all , i was using the Golden Umax and it would grunt low and it was always a nail then after removing the nail it would give a high tone sometimes and a token came out i found lots of good stuff two old tokens from the hotel and two mercs and a 1906 nickel I also tried the compadre after they spread out the piles i would dig down about 12" and just dig all and keep throwing the dirt behind me had a great time
