Draped Bust Half Cent

Well-known member
Went out in 20 degree weather hoping to find 2 large cents to get to me 15 for the year. Was hitting an area where house was supposed to be but no luck decided to walk to the other side of the yard and find this beaut. Signal wasn't the best on the CTX but was solid enough to dig. Was nothing I know of where I found it but will definitely be heading back there. Looks like date might be 1807 but not positive front is kind of rough

Congrats , maybe a clothesline was on that side of the house or a child playing lost it--which would be rare for anyone to have & lose back then! Even in the 1940's children didn't have coins to spend or lose! Ma

Ty! I don't know it was a good 200-300 yards from where the house was on the 1860 map... there is a spring 100 yards from where I found it... maybe was a stage coach stop in the area? Not sure but I'm definitely hitting the area again probably with the nox next time

Then the coin could have been lost as someone carried water tfrom the Spring to the house--I carried many buckets of water from our Spring that was cold enough to freeze a person's arm when holding it in the water for just a few mimutes --Good sweet, cold & clear Spring Water! Ma

Definitely possible but wow that would have been a haul! If coins could only talk 😆
