I went out tonight 2 hours should have not ,plugs just turned to dust even though I water each plug will quit until we get rain or go to swimming holes did find V nickel, 2 injuns will post tomorrow.7 inches was deepest.

Hey Prep

In your opinion does the minelab do better at picking up targets better after a good rain and the soil is wet? For some reason I seem to do much better after a good soaking rain.

I think all detectors benefit from wet ground. A detector uses radio frequencies; Why is this important? When you use a walkie talkie on the water your range is increased because the ground plane signal is propagated more efficiently on water than a line of sight transmission that only travels thru the air. I like to detect in the mist or at least a morning dew, but skip the downpours.

Good job prep! I havent found a injun in a long time and now i just love findind nickles,do you think if i dig all my nickles one might be agold ring? Or does ring have a diffrent tone and tid?

Try air testing various gold sized rings and earrings and compare them to the sounds of nickels.

The nickel I had to really work on just to get date, put gun grease on to photo better. Indians are not to bad shape need more cleaning.Yes I think I gain more depth in moist but not really wet soil.Went out tonite with large screw driver did not dig no plugs had 32 to 39 open everything else closed, ran in auto sensitivity,high trash found over 3 dollars in clad and 1 wheat.Just scraping clad popped only targets that Garrett pin-pointer could detect from surface better than not hunting at all.
