Stick to Ireland !
But if not metal detectors are sold in Dubai at rather high prices. What the beaches are like now I'm not certain as they have been digging and moving the coast round for several years.
I only thing to be careful about is not to detect round/disturb the local women so stick to early morning detecting which with the heat is the best idea anyway and ask about the rules re each particular beach as many are privately owned.
I've also got a feeling that they have turtles returning to bury their eggs each year so at that time there may be a strict no digging order.
