Dug An 1863 CW Token Today

I went to a nearby private residence that I just got permission for. I took the Xterra for it's speed (over the Explorer), it's ability to work in iron infested ground, and to try out the new 6" 3kHz coil.

The very first coin target that I dug was the best of the afternoon. It's a CW Storecard Token (Fuld 525c) from a city about 20mi from here.

While I was there, a neighbor came over and told me that he and several other had already hunted that place pretty hard. But I'm sure that they missed enough to make it worth my while going back several times between now and when the ground freezes. I haven't even been near the house yet, just a strip accross the driveway was all that I hit. There's also a barn and several outbuildings to hunt around, as well as some small paddocks, so all-in-all there's a lot of ground to sweep.

Gotta like how even back then they didn't spell exclusive and used the X in a way that we do today. Great find! I am still learning my X70 but so far I love it!

working magic for you. Isn't it great to find things in places that others have hunted hard? So far, I'm pretty impressed with the 6-inch Digger coil. I'll be anxious to hear what you think of it, as well. HH Randy

Yes indeed! It is a wonderful thing!! Magic is not an entirely inaccurate description.

The more I use it and figure out what works well as far as settings go, the more I like it. It operates a bit differently than prevoius offerings, but it's all good so far. I'm still experimenting with a variety of different things, so I'm not even sure that I have it working optimally yet, but I'm already pleased with what I know that it can do. The separation is fantastic, and it's response to iron and other junk makes it a coinshooter's dream.

I'm planning to write up a full report in the not distant future, and I'll post it up on the forum for sure.

HH!

ETA: The area that I live in was only settled in 1836, so finding stuff from that era is a thrill even if it's not terribly valuable.

Awesome find! Finding CW relics is always a thrill ! Especially in an area where you don't really expect it! Was there much activity from the CW in your area?

WOW, now that's a cool find and something that I have never found, a CW storecard token and I'm a lil jealous too, lol

That is a very nice token!!
Sounds like an interesting search area even if it have
been detected before.

No fighting here in Michigan. We sent troops, including George Armstrong Custer (Michigan 7th Cav.), but there is very little evidence of the war here to be found. We have statues in town squares commemorating locals that served, but most of Michigan's historical connection to the war is directly tied to the Underground Railroad. I grew up about 10mi from a tiny rural town that still has direct decendants of slaves that came up on the U.R. that stayed there.
