Dug the dreaded E today !

Got this gold ring with diamonds, looking good till I checked it with my loupe and viola ! it was stamped 18K GE - gold electroplate . Sure felt low then.

But later on I got these things to perk me up. The small bracelet is stamped 10K Mex; the larger bracelet is stamped 14 K Italy but didn't look quite right. I tested it with my acid kit and it's not gold. Looks to be a candidate for my bogus gold display. The ring is silver - stamped 925 and looks great. The 2001 half dollar was pretty deep but my Fisher snifted it out.
Today was my first time out in some days - been in sickbed with a cold. Wife is still sick, must have got it from me. Maybe say a prayer for her recovery as it's bad. Steve in so az

Hello Steve,
Despite the fact that the gold wasn't the real thing, the real value was in your health improving so you could be out treasure hunting. Take it from me and so many others who have had cancer of one form or another and now live with a weakened immune system. Thank God the chemo day are behind me! Any day I can go out hunting is a good day and, if I find anything...well...that's just frosting on the cake of life. Amen? May God bless your wife with renewed health and the opportunity to enjoy the remainder of 'The Reason For The Season'...
