Dug these up today

Sort of looks like part of some type of latch. Whatever they are I'd keep looking for more, brass has a good recycle value.

I also found two railroad spikes, not sure if related... darn found a lot of wheat cents, but silver never showed up, also found a total of 3 brass RCAF buttons..... it was a small grass yard the soil was easy to dig, sure was hoping for more. I will rehunt again after it gets bulldozed.

Any one know if those are eagles on the rcaf buttons?

They ARE railroad related...Spikes went through the square holes, and they held the tracks to the ties I think...I have seen them myself before...

HH,

If you're in Canada the RCAF is probably Royal Canadian Air Force.

Look at the penny. Those plates are brass and only 1 to 2" across. The lot of them would fit in your hand or pocket. The plates used to hold down railway track are 10-12" across, made of iron, and the holes are an inch across.

They must be part of some machine. Possibly electrical parts. If associated with the railway then it could be anything that was used or carried by rail, IE Anything!

I like whatzits, those are good ones.
