dumb question

Ok, i am familiar with some of the gold detectors out there but was wondering, a bounty hunter land ranger pro. It has a pretty good manual ground balance and in air test it picks up a 7.5 shotgun pellet about an inch and a half away. I dont have any small nuggets to try it with. Do you think it could pick up a 1 or 2 gram nugget 3 or 4 inches from the coil? It has a 11" dd coil. Like i said a dumb question but thank you anyway

No such thing as a dumb question. What you have is a coin/relic machine and a cheap one at that. It will do many things just not at a high level BUT example; When my son was 11 he got a radio shack junker for free. He entered the club contest against guys with up to 30 years experience and ungodly expensive machines, over 35 folks. He won the gold coin first prize hahaha and I put it in a bezel and a chain he still wears it 26 years later. It is NOT the machine but the man behind it. Yes you will will do better with a good nugget shooter like a GB2,Gold Bug Pro,Tesoro lobo ST etc etc but like wives learn to love the one your with, then move on up if it's what you really want-Learn from it and prosper.John

A one or 2gr nugget is pretty small...I guess you can try it out with a variety of lead split shots?

Good answers to your question, if its all you have, go ahead and use it...You know for sure it will hit a BIG nugget...that may have even been passed over by the high end rigs as 'trash' or overloaded their rigs while they were hunting for tiny ones with their gear and running it full hot!! :beers:

I guess if I was going gold nugget hunting, I'd find out my rigs limits by using lead split shots sizes, and then adjust my capability and strategy from there...a 2gr nugget isnt worth a whole lot anyway...go find one the size of a potato and then you can buy all the gear you want! Report back with pics!
