50 degrees today and only 1 appointment at the YMCA. Let's see...Harley ride? ...or 2 hours of detecting for the first this year? ...well the SE got the nod today. I went right back to my old faithful site that has given up a lot of silver and injuns in the last 30 years. I love this place because I can hunt for 2 hours and may not get a good signal to dig...but there are still some deepies at 8"+ there to be had. I used a combo of the 1050 coil and my 6" Excelerator and they didn't disappoint.
I no more than noise canceled and walked 2 feet from the car...the EXACT same place I park the car every time I hunt there...and BANG...a sweet worn Barber dime down about 8 1/2". NO pressure now ...just fun time. Picked up three more wheaties...then got that sweet Injun sound. Dug a nice deep plug about 6" down then ran the probe in the hole. About 2 more inces down...out pops the 1888 Injun from 8". Wandered around for another hour or so and popped out 2 silver Roosey's from about 7" each...then looked at my watch. I realized I had to be back for an appointment at 4:00 so I thought I'd better get going....RIGHT... I decided to hunt another 20 minutes and I'm glad I did. Popped on the 6" Excelerator and hit the "nasty zone" at this park. 10 minutes later out pops this nice sterling band from 7" down so I called it a day. It felt great to officially be out hunting for the first time this year. I didn't care if I found a thing...but I'm glad I did. You never know about this pounded place. sometimes you don't even get a wheatie...then other times like today...you get 3 or 4 keepers.

Now that is a great first hunt of the year! WTG Bryce! Maybe I should come down and hit that site with ya! :)

Awsome stuff, way older than anything I found by me.

Very nice finds Bryce. It is strange isn't it, how a place can continue to give up treasure when you think it should be cleaned out.

Yikes, Bryce!! Love that Barber dime and Indian penny and Roosies and that sterling ring!

I love those old coins.....what terrifice detecting that was!! Congratulations :super:

It is amazing , isn't it...that we can go over the same spot several times and find something that wasn't there the previous time...

what a great hobby this is, no?

and I know I've swung my coil over that exact same 20 feet of soil 100 times in the last 30 years. Maybe moisture...coil angle...settings...different coil...etc give a different reading each time.
