Dusted Off The Old EX 11 Today

RLOH

Well-known member
I have an Explorer 11 that has been in my family for 6 years sort of. I had it for three and a half years and sold it to my best friend two years ago. Before I sold it, I had put a Pro coil on it and replaced the battery pak. My buddy used it three times and at my urging, kept the battery charged. He just could not get use to the symphony of sounds, so I traded an easier to use detector to him last winter. I had not used it this spring as I have been using a Garrett AT Pro all spring. Today I took the EX 11 to two of my favority places. The first target of the day was a pristine 44 merc. The second target which was five feet away from the merc was a 1911 English half penny. It was a foot deep! I got cold so I moved to a place farther away from Lake Erie. I went to an area where I had found a bunch of Indians and a Barber dime with the AT Pro. The first target here was a one way signal that pegged upper right and I knew it was a coin next to junk as it nulled every other direction. From 8 or 9 inches comes a 188? Indian and a rusty nail. I actually filled in the hole and started detecting right at my plug. Good thing I did not skip a half a foot. I got a faint, sweet silver warble. I dug my new plug using one side of my old plug and found the nicest Barber dime I have ever found. Not a great year, but what looks like an uncirculated 1916 Barber. 9 inches deep! On my return pass I got another signal that was trying to hide because of iron, but not from the Explorer. A 10 inch deep 1917 merc! Found two old wheats to top of a great morning. I was actually thinking of selling the Ex 11, but I guess I will table that thought. R.L.

Even the XS are killer machines still. Sometimes switching machines... then coming back you realize just how good they are. If nothing elce you know you have a machine that would sell quickly ANYTIME. Sounds like a day we all would like to have... nice digs R L.
