If you can see from this pic here it looks like they have made the background to contrast more so the visuals which are larger to boot make it more visually appetizing.

I see by reading the E-TRAC manual that new screen is 240 x 160 whereas SE's screen is 64 x 128.

weight of the E-TRAC is 3lbs. 8.48 oz.
SE ----------------------------- 3lbs. 7 oz.

Length Unextended -------------- 43" (SE)
------------------------------------------- 41.7" (E-TRAC)

Length Extended ----------------- 55" (SE)
------------------------------------------ 54.3" (E-TRAC)

Is the weight you show for the SE pro or the older SE with the fat coil?

Sorry, you're right. It's for the 10.5" coil. The respective manuals give the weights for the coils

I take that back. In the Explorer SE manual it does not specify the weight of the 10.5" coil. In the E-TRAC technical specifications of the 11" Pro coil it lists it as weighing 1.15lbs (including skidplate)

I weighed my SE, and with its 10.5" coil it weighs 5.12Lbs and with the 15" WOT it weighs 5. 40 Lbs

From the figures given here, I guess that the new detector would be around 1.8kg.
