I've got about 18 hours on the E-Trac now and I an truly impressed with this beauty.
I got to do a couple hours on the beach yesterday while visiting some friends who are in town for the week at their condo. I downloaded Des Dunne's beach pattern, programmed his mode and preferences settings into the E-Trac using the E-Trac Manager and away I went!
I tried an experiment just to learn my new beauty also...
I would use Des's mode/settings/pattern exclusively without changes and try swinging really slow and when I nulled out I'd switch to Quick Mask to see what the FE-CO numbers were. This never produced any good repeatable or steady numbers so I figure the nulls are truly junk. I did dig a few of the steadier ones to see and yep, JUNK. Both Nickels were solid 12-13 and one was very deep, down around the 10 inch depth and it READ at 10 inches on the display. The Quarters just screamed at me and they were mostly 6 or 7 inches deep The dimes bounced a bit 11/12/13-40/42, especially the 2 cruddy ones.
I really liked that pull tabs came in at 12/13-14 to 22 and the sound on this program when you hit a tab!! Man there was NO mistaking a pull tab in this mode. Like I said earlier, I dug EVERY real target that didn't null out but I DID decide BEFORE digging whether I wanted to call it a DIG or NO DIG target, all the digs went in the right hand cargo pocket on my shorts and the NO DIGs went into my left pocket. I had NO KEEPERS in the NO DIG pocket at the end of the hunt and very few trash targets in the keeper pocket. I can tell, on the beach anyway, I will indeed be digging a LOT LESS TRASH now with this E-Trac.
I had a few people make comments over on Facebook that the E-Trac isn't a beach machine, it doesn't have the depth of a Sovereign, well that may be true but it does go really deep and after I get all the shallow stuff, I can come back with the Sov' and get the deepies.
So here's the booty, and I guess, MY FIRST E-Trac SILVER!!!
