E Trac on salt water beaches

Hey Folks,

Got my first E Trac back in October along with the Sabbisch book. I primarily hunt beaches and do some coin hunting in parks and school lots etc..... I am looking for info regarding successful beach settings for the E Trac while operating on NJ beaches. I have tried several differnt patterns and am currently using Joe D's pattern found in Andys book. Aside from the pattern and settings that Andys book suggests is there anything else I should be dialing in? Also, using the settings in Andys book does anyone else find that the volume for both the threshold and target response is extremely loud? I did not want to change it on the assumption that I might miss something. I have only owned a couple detectors and am still trying to figure out the E Trac. Its a big difference from the ACE 350 and Excal 2..... Any pointers and suggestions are greatly appreciated...... Thanks Fellas

Adjust the threshold down from the factory 30 to where you can just hear it. Mine's at 14-15. Leave Volume at the highest setting and then use the volume control on your headphones to set to what you want.
