E-Trac Question, Noise

Ohio bud

New member
My E-Trac is making a strange noise. It seems to be OK for the first few minuets, but then starts to make a continuous tone, like a flute, and changes pitch. If I turn it off and back on, it is OK for a few minuets again. It doesn't make any difference what I am doing with the coil and I can still hear targets, but it drives me nuts. This happened sometimes last year and cleared up, only to return with the colder temperatures. Any one have any suggestions as I will probably have to send it to Chicago.

Thanks, Ohio Bud

Check under your coil cover for dirt and stuff, if it builds up it can cause falsing.

Is the Sun Ray probe attached?
No kidding you may have it turned to the wrong direction for pinpoint

Happened to me when I borrowed the Husband's ET when mine was in shop
I use the Garrett Pin Point Probe and luv it!

Good Luck

Check all connections. Check to make sure coil cover is free of dirt. Might try a factory reset before you send it in.

Also try electrical tape on the connection between the coil and control box,the connector may be resting or tapping on the inside of the shaft,I had a similar problem and this was the remedy, hope that helps!
