E-Trac scores 10 silvers today.

Today I dug 10 silver coins and 4 wheats in under 3 hours with the E-trac. In a spot I have been over no less than 50 times with many other machines. We have had rain the past two nights and the ground is very moist. I imagine that probably had alot to do with it. Every coin was 7"-10" and most had rusty nails in the same hole. The most I have ever dug was 8 in one day and that was a couple years ago

kick'n butt WTG !!!! I havnt had a 10silver day but i had a 6 sure cant wait to learn this machine !!!!!!! i feel im getting much better butwith less than 70 hrs. i can say i have never had this kind of learning curve with any other machine again.......... THANKS MINELAB !!!!!! i hunted a bit today and did find a merc. dime... in super soft soil it was around 9 inches.

I was using the SEF 15x12 for about 2 hours and found 3 mercs. Then changed to the stock Pro Coil and dug the rest in about an hour in the same spot I had already been over with the SEF hmmmm.
I did learn today that in an area with alot of iron I dropped the sensitivity to auto +1 and got all the signals with a faint tell tell silver sound then bumped the sensitivity up to auto +3 to zero in and pinpoint. The machine responded much faster with the lower sensitivity and made all the deep signals very obvious.

What a good hunting day John ! Your statement above says something to me. The SEF missed 7 silvers in about twice the time, hmmmm is right. Maybe reduced sensitivity on the SEF 15x12 to coin sized objects? What does it mean to everyone else?

Maybe you should try a CoilTek 15" WOT on the E-Trac and compare. That is the coil I am going to buy for my Musky.

I did read a report by Andy Sabisch that the 15" WOT does not have reduced sensitivity to coins because of its big size. It does not lose any sensitivity to smaller targets with the increased depth. Coins depths reaching 2 feet in wet salt sand as well in the report as well. Ideal for searching wide open areas also. It was in an older issue of Lost Treasure and on DOC's website.

David, that info my be true but i think it was before the Pro coil came out. The Pro coil is hard to beat.

The SEF's are brilliant coils but the 15x12 has a big footprint which means it will not be as effective as the pro amongst the nails. I don't know if lowering the disc might help ?

MikeInSF I have not tried the smaller SEF have you? I bet its a great coil. I have been having good luck with the pro coil but I would like to hear from someone who has compared the two.

David and EdUK I agree the 15x12 is a bit big when there is alot of targets close together but I thought it seperated really well for it's size. I did not notice any depth increase in this type of hunting over the Pro coil but I bet the SEF would be deep on relic hunting for deep CW bullets in older sites that don't have the disturbed ground with alot of modern trash and nails.

Wow what a nice haul. I keep going back to the pro coil...it just seems to be the right size for most of the detecting that I do.
