E-Trac SlimPack Battery Data Question

Wisconsin

New member
Anyone here know the manufacture data on the E-Trac SlimPack Battery 1600 Mah.

I would like to know if this batery pack is capable of taking a fast charge of 100% of C, which equates to 1.6A in 90 minutes.

Calling Minelab USA has resulted in two

i think the only problem with rapid charging is the heat. it shortens the cells life and if you have a weak cell it will die sooner than the others. remeber these arnt nicads so do some desideing on it and figure out what you want more. faster charging or longer long life spand for the pack.
how about buying another back and rapid charge one and slow charge the other so youll always have one in good shape if one kills over and wont charge anymore.

I have the recharge pack, but with the detector i also got a slim line pack that works using AA batteries, I get such a long running time out of the AA Duracel copper tops that I cannot remember how long i have been using them. So it simple use the recharge pack till power is low then do a change out. I have had the E-Trac for 13mths now and have not had a problem.

I am more interested in knowing the pack is fully charged than doing a fast charge.

I have the Core UDC-20 and need the specs to set up the charger so I do not fry the pack as you are correct heat will not be a friend to my battery.

Look on some of the radio control model forums and go to their 'batteries' section. There's lots of good user info including charging rates. I don't remember it or I would tell you outright. But, they do use the 1C term and compare charging rates and all that. Probably will find a formula there that's applicable to any battery. Jim

I checked the Minelab web site and they sell loose batteries. The picture shows they are Vanson batteries. Here is the Vanson web site. You might try sending your question to them, they should be the best source for info on charging their battery.

Hope this helps,
