E-trac Vs Explorer SE & goldmaxx Power also featuring the 15" SEF!!!

Detectors set just to they started spitting on the soil and in all metal.

Nice video, Toddy which coil did the guy have on the Goldmax power please???

This was a light hearted test for one of our forum members. He wanted both detectors set up in all metal and just to the ground started spitting.

Hi Toddy from Scotland,

THANKS VERY MUCH for taking the time out to make this and other such informative video's on the E-trac.

They are helpful to many of of us.

I am wondering......though it does show that changing to the SEF coil gives an increased depth and that the E-trac can handle the relative soil conditions, you have not NOISE CANCELED, either when you turn the E-trac on with stock coil or with the SEF.

Have you tried this or any other tests and noise canceled first, to see if the result is the same.

Cheers

David Di

I already had the chanel from when I noise canceled. I had been using the detector previous to this test. I maybe should have re done it as we where near a railway.

Toddy,

Thanks for the videos you have been posting - some good information in them.

The one comment I would have when it comes to videos showing how well (or not well) a specific detector does is the video does not always tell the whole truth.

Minelab FBS detectors are terrible when air tested and not much better on a freshly buried target. I have seen a Whites XLT air test on a quarter at 24" . . . but I challenge anyone to come close to even half that on a buried target. When we have done side-by-side testing with FBS-detectors (Explorer, Quattro, Safari, E-Trac) and other brands, the only real test is on a long-time buried target which we mark with a poker chip or golf tee and compare all the detectors to before disturbing ANY of the soil.

Many have figured out that the MLOTV videos that showed how well the E-Trac could pick out a coin from between iron objects was a bit deceptive . . . . if you align the trash targets a specific way, the E-Trac is not the only machine that can pass that demo . . . . . heck, a Garrett Ace 250 can be made to look far more impressive than it might be in the field and at a gathering here, we were able to get almost every detector tested to pick up a coin between the iron targets with some "tweaking".

Not taking anything away from the video comparison but I have found that testing on long-time buried signals is the only true way to see how an FBS detector compares against another detector, especially a VLF unit where air or freshly buried target testing can often look better than "real world" targets

Any of you XP users know what the differences are with the Goldmaxx and Goldmaxx Power? I wish I could find someone willing to send a Power to the US... but I'm guessing that's not going to happen.

Hi Andy

i done the test for a lad who was determined that this was the best test for him. I know through experience that the Multis don't air test well. I also checked targets against the Goldmaxx all day and a few he called iron where clear diggers on the ET. The Goldie is a very good detector though.

That there were some pitfalls with comparing detectors of different technology in certain ways. Heck, if you want to sell another high end detector, demo them in your shop against a Minelab and the Minelab will lose everytime.

I have several friends that swear by the Goldmaxx units and do very well in the areas they hunt. I had a chance to try one the last time I was in England and was no slouch.

Thanks again for the informative videos . . .

Andy

I have been a long time user of the Explorers and the Goldmaxx's. I do prefere the E-trac to both of them. The Depth meter and pinpoint are superb just to name a few. The XP's do not do beaches but really Excell on iron infested areas.

Hi,
I use the goldmaxx.the main differance is the power has a feature the eliminates coke- its goes slightly deeper too.

Sorry but I was out today and I dug lots of coke IN Auto.

Really?? Well then I may as well just stick w/ the original and not bother upgrading to the Power. Thanks

You can get a Coke button fitted to the stem...........supposed to be ace!
