E-Trac, Why so Heavy Minelab???

New member
Minelab make good gear to detect with and thats a fact!! So why make a brand new model ( E-Trac ) so heavy?? Id like to own one but NOT if its going to pull my arm off!! Ill order an X-Terra..

I have detected for six hours with the E-Track and it was no different to using my XLT as far as weight or arm strain so why do you call it a heavy machine when its actually very well balanced. see if you can try one out as im sure you will change your mind and having used one you won't want anything else.

It IS better balanced. Especially with the new Pro coil it comes with. I am sure it will feel just as heavy if I swing a 10 x 14 Ecell in the corn stubble this fall, but if you took the lightest detector on the planet and put a big coil on it, you are going to feel it's heavy. They list the detector as weighing 3.53 lbs or 1.6 kg, minus the battery and the head phones. I don't think the battery weighs half a pound, so I am confused where people are getting 5 and 5 1/2 pounds:stars:

If you check the manual they give rhe additional weight for the coil, its a dream to use unless your a big girl :detecting:

My DAD always said Don't take it out if you can't support it. Do you think he ment metal detectors ?

Actually if you way the Explorer you will be surprised to find that the E-Track is lighter by a couple of ounces.
