E Trac & X1 Probe

D&P-OR

Well-known member
Has ANYONE had a chance yet to try the X1 probe on the E Trac yet???? Does it work???? Does it work????:bouncy:

That's the first thing I was thinking too. I am sure someone from SunRay can fill us in. Imagine buying the probe for the E-TRAC and then to your dismay because of it's GUI being shuffled and enhanced or maybe because of it's additional functions it interferes with the Probes setup as made for the SE.

Hello, Go to Sunray on this forum. The question has already been brought up to Ralph. He says, We think so but are waiting for their shipment and should have a answer on tuesday. I'm anxious to know too. HH EddieB

If the Explorer coils work the probe will too.. the upper rod looks the same, and since it uses the same coil as the SE pro which works on my SE and II I can not see how the probe can not, should be able to use the probe and rod from your explorers... just another reason for me to think its the same machine with different software, and buttons.. and maybe a new processor.. I see specs for the Etrac, but cant find anything on the processor of the other explorers.. for sure the transmit and receive frequencies are the same.. it's FBS technology..
Faster response would be enough for me to get it... anyone know the specs on processor speed on all the explorers?

the high trash setting still bugs me.. its just a pattern I dont use patterns so will be of no use to me

The X-1 probe works fine on the E-Trac . . . . . it has been tried on several iterations of the software and it will work with no problem as will any of the coils available - Coiltek, Sun Ray, Detech, etc.

The Trans Density is NOT a pattern . . . not sure where that impression came from. The Quattro had a form of this function on it and the E-Trac takes it to a new level. It determines how signals from targets are processed and hence displayed audibly or visually. Without going into a long discussion - the new book has a lengthy discussion on it - suffice it to say that the HIGH setting works wonders in being able to identify good targets adjacent to and under trash targets.

Hope this helps

Read the manual again.

looks like High Trash is a preset pattern and setting that you can choose from if u like..

High density ( that i think You mean ) is a software setting like, recovery fast/recovery deep and ground.

I agree, then, hmmm, not so sure. This is from the manual,

"When the Discrimination Pattern is

Looking at that video Des Dune did with the dime and the nails: I THINK, (mine is not here yet) what ML did was to make it where the machine reports accepted signals INSTEAD of the null of disced stuff. Another words, even though there is a nail or two, they realized you weren't so concerned with that as much as the accepted target. So, with software, the machine always reports the accepted target over and through the nulls of the rejected targets. Almost like an audio disc, reversed according to what you have set up for rejected and accepted targets. Where it used to be you would hear all the nails nulling and possibly miss the coin, now the machine gives the importance of the coin instead because it is accepted, so now you would hear the coin and possibly miss the nails, hope rusted nails don't go up in value:thumbup:. The neat trick is this: the iron rusty nails give a larger signal and are easier to pick up then the smaller coin signal. So instead of the machine reporting the strongest signal first (iron null) and then the smaller signal second (the coin), I believe they reversed that. Nutshell: audio disc, set up with the accepted targets reporting first and over rejected targets, all done by a processor that updates in REAL TIME. I too, hunt in all metal, but if the machine can pick the coins out of the trash in disc better than a user can, well then, so much for all metal. I am just guessing from what I saw in that video, but I am pretty certain, that's what has been done or something real close.

Probably because when u are in all metal you hear all targets.

High density setting does something with the trash u disc out but cant do nothing when u choose to hear all.

I think that is how it should be understood.

Here on mlotv when he mentions the high setting for trash density he states,"...optimizes discrimination for you"

I wonder if there is still a loud reminder not to switch in or out of Pinpoint Mode when you have the X-1 switch in Probe.

Yeah Yeasty! The loud reminder is the squeal you hear when the probe is still in its holder when you leave the switch in probe. LOL Been there done that! Jim
