Early Minelab Explorer Question

New member
Hey, 32 year veteran. I have a friend who has a barely used Explorer. He was on his way out today and I couldn't see it. Am I right in guessing maybe 2005 or 06 model? Anyway, he's on the up with it. He offered it to me back when it as new for $1000 and today asked $300. Some guy bought it, hated it, and my friend gave him a $300 credit on the unit.

I am a Minelab guy. Owned Excal, Sx2a, and have a Quattro. Any issue on the early Explorers? Seems like $300 is a bargain for a barely used unit. I like hunting slow and I suspect this unit has a slow recovery.

Have owned all the Whites, a Garrett.

Best Finds: 16Th Century fighting axe, 2 Flat-Nosed Hotchkiss rounds complete, "mint" CSA Rec., Ammo at Poltava, 1709.

Even if its and XS.... $300 bucks is a steal if its working properly. I think you will put that Quattro up for good. Sounds like the Explorer II to me. You cant loose money on that even if you want to resale it. If its a II those standard coils used to be hard to find and everyone wanted them until the Pro coil came on board.

Thanks! I wanted to get it today but he was literally running out the door. This unit has a few hours, like, under 5 on it. I'll pick it up.
