Early Morning Hunt

Last week I received permission to hunt an old farm house dating back to the mid-to-late thirties. This morning I hunted a very small portion of the property and this is my find so far...' Thompson's Malted Milk Container Cover '. I also found an old bottle opener, part of a wind chime, an early trowel, and part of a door handle off an early thirties or forties automobile. I have a picture of the finds but I'm having difficulty reducing the size of the picture for some reason. My picture program isn't performing correctly. Does anyone recognize this item?

Congrats on getting permission to detect an old farm and the finds! Nice find but I have never seen one before, but I would assume it is a lid off a Malted Milk Container which was sold in places where they sold ice cream and shakes...to be metal has to be the 40's or early 50's when a lot of items were made of heavy aluminum! Also looks like s small hubcap that used to be on some automobile wheels but never knew of any that had advertising on them! I would say it was off an advertisement item sold to make milk shakes during the early 50's but just a guess! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

I'm guessing 40' - 50's.

Yes ... I'm beginning to feel much better. Praise God! I 'Googled' the name and it came up with Steve's idea actually. It's the lid off a Thompson's Malted Milk Shaker. You can actually buy these things in antique shops and on EBay for $6 dollars. Oh ... and Mike is right too. It did come from the 40's & early 50's period.

pretty neat!!!! congrats!
