Early morning visitor

Opened the front door yesterday morning to find an unexpected visitor. Ran for the camera and got some shots through the plexiglass panel of the storm door. Sorry the pictures aren't very good. I guess the plexiglass messed up the auto focus.

We have turtle doves all over the place and he'd caught one on our front steps. When I spotted him he had most of the dirty work done and was picking the bones clean. He was wary of me but didn't want to give up the last of his breakfast. I watched him for several minutes..............and he kept a close eye on me all the time. I was only about 8 ft. from him and was surprised he stayed. Finally, I tried to open the door enough to stick my hand out with the camera but that was too much for him. He flew into a nearby tree for a while and then decided to move on.

Due to the small size (about 10" overall length) I'm pretty sure this is a "sharp-shinned" hawk. We've seen a pair of them around our neighborhood for the past couple of years but never gotten a really good look at them. Here's a better picture I lifted off the net. This one is lighter in color but appears to be the same.
