Early Week Finds & Need Bullet ID Help

It's raining cats and dogs here today so I'll post what I found earlier this week! The quarter came from a pounded park in Eastern Illinois and was about 8 inches down next to iron. It was the first thing I found about three feet from where I turned on the detector! The dime was near it and was very deep and in iron as well. The 90 & 93 Indians came Tuesday from a couple of yards and the 78 came out of a field in Indiana where a chuch once stood. I found it earlier this month. Any ideas on the bullet? It came from a field where a school stood from the 1890s until 1946. Looks similar to a minie ball but not sure. All of the minies I have found have been white!

here is a possible match
is called a ring taled sharps

Rick - I think that's the one! Strange mine isn't white tho. First one I have ran across in Illinois! Thaks for the ID............how are things down in Cookeville these days?

Most musket balls I dig are white but on occasion I do get a grey one.

This one has a broken base. I was thinking maybe it was a reject one of the kids from the school got from Grandpas keepsake box and lost it in the 30s or 40s. Wonder how many years it takes to get the white oxide?

really depends on the round, some turns them white faster, and some they turn a silvery black...

It is cold and rainy today.
have not had much chance to detect lately.
have been busy getting the folks moved here from Fla.
give me a shout if you are going to be down in Tenn and we will make some time to hunt.

I'll do that! I need to get down there too. May see you soon.....

Congrats on the goodies Keith...always fun to see a quarter pop out of the ground...
