easter monday night finds

Hello All. Like I promised I will post my fined for Easter Monday night to about nine o clock the next morning. I found two very nice rings. One is 18ct yellow and white as a centre band round the ring and stone about three quarter ct in size. With what looks like a dark blue sapphire stone. The other ring is also 18ct yellow. It has an x inlay across the top of the face in a black stone probable onyx. The large silver ring is stamped .925. The other ring has no markings and an odd type of colour and has an opening at the bottom about three mm wide and the width of the ring is about half of an inch across. One earring thick silver coloured, round medallion that probably came of a chain. The next item was a buss with wings and on the back was marked RACQ that look after vehicle break downs if you have joined the club. The call out are mostly free. The lady medallion has (prosperity) across the back. Another necklace medallion with silver across one side and a gold type of colour on the other side. some one tried to make a broach on one side of our1950 penny.1euro. 2 euro a 10 something value coin looks like china and a US coin I think it has 2F.fr1978 on the other side it has a lady and under the word Helvetia it could be from another country but has a row of stars around her.
The aussie coins come to 103 coins for a total of $70.90. Made up of 23 $2.00. 12, $1.00. 13, 50cents, 18,20cents, 20, 10cents, and 16, 5cents coins plus the foreign coins. a good pick up for a 4 day holiday week end. This is my 2nd best find in spending money for one day detecting on the beach. As you can see some of the coins are corroded and have been in the sand for some time. Top row are $2 next row down are $1 next down 50cents, next down 20cents,next are 10 cents and the bottom are 5 cents. I should have my 15 inch wot coil from coiltek by the middle of the week so I should get some extra depth. There are about a dozen local detectors that do the popular beaches every morning round 4, 0 clock and come back in the afternoon at about the same time but only over the week ends unless there has been some sort of event going they only do the hot spots between the flags. The council have a couple of sand cleaning machine that work every day but it doesn

Wow Stan a lot of really nice finds there. I haven't been out fdetecting around here for about a week, though we did get out last Wednesday, and I found a few more Chinese coins to add to the over 100 already found by me (not including Garry's coins!). I did find by fluke a chinese earthernware pot. It was mostly buried in the side of a slucing cliff, with just a bit of clay showing, so I got my pick and carefully removed the dirt. The bottom is missing, by the pot is otherwise intact. It was quite a find for me. I think you got enough coins to well and truly cover petrol and maybe an icecream!

Looks like you did well. That's a lot of stuff - nice assortment too. I don't think I have dug more than 50-60 coins in one outing. Of coarse sand should be easier digging.

That's a nice haul Stan, I haven't used my Quattro on a beach yet but will one day soon. The coins on the second row from left to right are; 2 Francs from Switzerland, Quarter for state of Oregon, one of the 50 USA State series, 25 Ore from Sweden. The right hand coin in top row I am not sure of, will need the other side scanned.

Hello John. Thank you for your reply and help with your id of the coins. I will scan the other side of that coin and post it on the forum with both sides together. to any one that is interested I have made a prototype using white LED bulbs and it runs of two AAA batteries so you can see the screen on the detector at night. the unit can be held in place on the right hand with a wrist band like the tennis players use it is fully adjustable once placed in position and lights up beautifully better than daylight .it is lite in weight and very cheap to run. Any handy person can make one up. It can also be worn on the other hand and throws a good lite. There are about three versions that I am going to make. The costs of parts would be around fifteen dollars and some small tubes of five minute araldite. For any one not capable of making one them self I could make it for around forty five dollars plus postage. One type I have in mind is to light up the screen and show the coil at the same time.
