Easy steps to fixing jewelry

Here are the steps in fixing jewelry so it wont be lost again. This is the silver bracelet I dug last week.

The tools - "low temp silver solder" ( flux is included), propane torch & third hand tweezer.

A third hand tweezer is very handy to hold the items. All these tools are not expensive and last forever.

You hold the ring to be soldered with the ends touching or real close. Then you put a drop of flux on the joint and cut a small piece of the high temp solder and place it on the joint inside the ring. This step really tests my patience ! If you flatten the solder piece first it's easier to place.

So after passing the low flame lightly over the joint the solder connects it.

Lastly, it's just a matter of polishing up and cleaning it. I have a simple, basic way of polishing . But that's another post if anyone is interested.

One last tip - when you use a buffing wheel to polish a chain or bracelet, wrap it around something to hold it or you stand a good chance of loosing it. I used a caulking tube here - a rolling pin also works well. steve in so az

Hi Steve, It would appear you're a man of many talents and patience. The silver jewelry sure looks nice when you're finished with it. I'm not sure I'm that gifted or at least not in that area.

Well, besides a husband, Nancy has a handyman in you! ;) :) Nice job and lovely bracelet! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
