Ecclesiastical question for fellow R.C.'s

From the land of the Bluenose...was on the Treasurequest form and viewed a post of a fellow's find of a silver St. Christopher medal..a nice one at that. Over the years I have found many of this particular saint but it always was a copper one. My question being ; if memory serves me right he was decannonized or defrocked or something along those lines a few decades ago as historians uncovered a "stain" on his life. Can anyone enlighten me on the details and if this is in fact a fact? Thanks

Dont remember a stain - but do remember him being cut out of the program. Making & breaking saints is not a good business, dont believe the Bible set this up. It does say we are all saints if we believe in Christ. Steve

Think I found your answer:
In 1969, the Church took a long look at all the saints on its calendar to see if there was historical evidence that that saint existed and lived a life of holiness. In taking that long look, the Church discovered that there was little proof that many "saints", including some very popular ones, ever lived. Christopher was one of the names that was determined to have a basis mostly in legend. Therefore Christopher (and others) were dropped from the universal calendar. From this site:
