Eclectic Evening Finds

Howdy,

We had some cooler weather and recent rain go through, so I ventured out again this evening. Decided to try around where I found a gold ring last, and continue searching in Ferrous tones and nearly all metal. Managed a few more old goodies. A crushed thimble (has some writing around the band, but too far gone to make out). A child ring. A cuff link that has the clasp broken (but they were still together in the dirt). A really neat pin with a butterfly design on it (looks old, but no markings to help pinpoint it). Managed two nickels, one being a 1940 (the other was modern). And what I thought was going to be another Wheat, but turned out to be a crusty Indian Head cent when I got it washed off later (always a surprise when your find changes before your eyes).

Kind of an eclectic mix for the evening. I think the pin is my favorite. Too bad the Indian Head is toasted; it as good detail under the crud.

Congrats on your finds, DF!

Yeah, the pin is my favorite too!! Real nice condition!!

Many times when I've dug post 1900 Injuns, they come out of the ground looking like yours. The pre-1900 Injuns I've dug have that nice green patina on them.

Good luck on your next hunt!!

Nah, it's aluminum, and came in kinda low. I scrubbed it to see if I could make out the letters along the bottom (which are just gone, unfortunately), so it's much cleaner than it had been out of the ground.

Good finds you made dirt flipper.
