edward 1st longshanks penny

got out for a few hours today found this edward hammered penny in the first ten minutes ,the field is terrible barley stubble and loads of iron ore underneath plus big lumps of iron as well ,sens 75 (and that was really to high) disc 10 tones 2+ ,you gotta really listen for the little zip of a goodun.coin dated from the late 1200's

do you sweep slow or fast. the manuel says sweep fast to find the deeper coins but i've tried every thing and have yet to find anything deep. thanks.

just normal walking pace ,i have found some really deep nice targets since i have had the machine ,but the point is they have to be there in the first place ,the weather will also affect your depth as the ground dries up your target depth reduces ,no fear of that in the u.k at the moment though .

Well done on the long shangs - Welsh find?

Attatched are afew of mine from South Wales over the past few months.

The hammered coins are a Henry III voided long cross penny (Canterbury Mint) Moneyer: Nicole On Cant 1247Ad-1279AD and a Henry VI groat (4pence) Calais Mint (Annulet Issue) 1422AD-1427AD.

The one gold ring is 22ct with a large emerald. The other rings are 9ct


Silver riding crop top. Half crown, French 1800's hallmarked Dandy button, couple of joeys . . .

Those are some nice Coins and Rings, I do envy all of you who have places with such Old History to Hunt. But it's great to see your finds, and gives me inspiration to keep thriving for my day, until then I will keep digging. D Wes
