Eldorado garden test

New member
I finally had an opportunity to test out the Eldorado I recently purchased. My initial observation is it's really light compared to my old 1266x. I found the ground balance procedure to be very straight forward and easy to do. When I did the air test and ground test I was in Disc mode with my sensitivity around 8. I set my disc to notch just above iron. A quarter and Tungsten ring were picked-up at 6". a mens gold ring at about 4" and a silver ring and nickle at 3". My ground test had very similar results at the same setting. I was not really happy with the results as I thought I would get a little more depth. If I move the Disc any higher than iron, I totally lost the silver and nickle. I lost it well before the 5C mark. Is this a common result? Is there any way to get more depth? I will have some time next weekend to take it out in the "real world". I should note that I did achieve a little better depth all around in all-metal mode. However, I don't plan to use all metal except to pin-point

That all said, I sure like the Eldorado for its light-weight and I sure don't miss that snap, crackle and pop of the 1266x, though i am missing the depth.

Thanks.

Oppie

Try turning the sensitivity up some more.

I tend to run the sensitivity on the Tesoro detectors as high as I can go. If it starts to chirp some, back it down just a little until it stops chirping. I am usually running at 10 or a little into the red when over fairly mild ground conditions. If the ground is highly mineralized, you may need to go a little bit lower.

Thanks for the reply TVR. I should have mentioned that I moved the sensitivity to red (max) and found no improvement. I had a message from a nice guy at Tesoro who said it sounded like it is out of tune. He recommends sending it in for service.

Well ... I agree! If you are only seeing 6 or so inches on a quarter in an air test at full sensitivity; it just doesn't sound right. I'd expect a good bit more. Call the factory and send it in.
