Electrolysis

Haven't tried it. How does it work? Why would you do it and what are the results? Does it hurt the value if the 'Petina' is removed?
 
Here are some before and after shots of silver and gold rings from water hunts. Silver turns black quite fast in the lakes, and if it has been there a long time gets a crust on it. Gold takes longer to get the black junk.

Hey Mike, I thought you did that. I downloaded a couple of pages of instructions in making one. How do you do yours. I am going to try and make it work.
 
www.instructables.com Has a pretty good one there. Although his is a bit more complex than it needs to be. Im not sure if the process is different for gold and silver than it is for Iron... thats what im using it for.
