Electronic Dog Fencing!

Prodigy

New member
I recently got permission to hunt a house that had 10 or 12 kids living there at one point in the 40's so naturally I was pretty excited to see what the Safari could do. As soon as a turned on my detector, it went INSANE!! I thought it was broke! I know you can get intereference so I did the ground check and it still wouldnt go away. I did the ground check again in the air as someone said to do on this forum and it helped a lot but the interference was just way too much for it to handle. Later the owner walks up and says "Just dont dig on the edge of the property, I have an electronic dog fence that sends out radio waves under the ground and if you cut it, it will be destroyed." WOW! I was freaking out thinking I'd have to send my detector in. Glad he told me after an hour of piddling around. Anyone else ever have problems with these fences?

I never heard of it but it's a good to know and a good question to ask about before hunting private property - especially if you know they have a dog.
