This pendant on chain that I dug yesterday is unusual. Here it is normally.

And here it is opened via strong hinge. It's so spacious the buff fits in. What do you all think it was made to contain ? Steve in so az

Not sure what it was made to contain, but I think this is jewelry from India...the colors and style make me think this is so

That is a terrific find!!:super:

Maybe it contained a good luck charm for whoever wore it, as many of India's people aren 't Christian or it could have contained a type of saschet or perfume that you could rub on your neck or wrist to smell sweet......not liquid but the paste type! I hope it didn't contain Opium or another drug!!

Neat find though, Steve! You do find the neatest things in jewelry and such!

God Bless!

thanks for the close up. yup i like it much. very interesting piece. my dad once gave me an elephant pendant that was gold i guess elephants are supossed to represent good luck. so ya maybe it is something in thier believe about carma or luck. cool find anyhow...

It looks like it is made out of brass..I have several friends from India who immigrated to the USA. I will ask one of them about what this might have been used for.

I like it!

A friend on another forum found a "Navratna" ring ( Indian) ...with stones like in the pic I am posting of this type of ring...One of my Indian friends is going to bring me a ring like this back from India when she visits there this summer....Indian jewelry is so colorful.the 8 stones'significance I have forgotten..have to research this again.

Looks like the eye had a stone in it? I bet the inside was for buffalo nickels! :)

...peanuts!!!

I really have no idea what it was made to contain but it sure is neat. Very unique find Steve!
