Elite Help! Help!

Hi, I'm in the middle of doing the remote pinpoint switch modification on my Sovereign Elite and find the faceplate does not come off as directed in the webpage on the sovereign mods, perhaps his was an earlier version of the sov. I've removed the battery box half of the box and undone the three screws that appear to hold the faceplate on but its still not coming free so I can get access to the all-metal/disc switch to wire in the remote switch.
Has anyone done this conversion on an elite and can they please advise S.A.P. on how to get at it?
I'm no electronics whiz so all help is much appreciated. I sure don't want to use force to get at things.

Never took an Elite apart but the previous Sov's one has to be careful removing..E-mail Ken Herre as he is indeed a mod guru and helped me out over the years...Nice gentleman with a fine site.....

Hi Scott ,,i install a remote switch myself but didnt had to remove the faceplate,,i weld the wire directly on the all metal disc switch ,,,as you can see on the picture the 3 switch are quit visible without removing the faceplate,,
when i use the remote switch i just switch the elite to disc,
hope you understand my english!!!

Thats exactly the point I am trying to reach. Your picture shows the front part of the elite with both halves of the box removed and the circuit board out of the way. It looks as though there is one more screw I didn't undo that would be beneath the circuit board. I have been unable to loosen the circuit board to get at it. The main problem seems to be getting it clear where the coil connector is attached to the back of the box. It looks as if the coil connector is clamped inside the plastic at that point.
How did you get at that screw?
I'm sure no whiz at this!!

The Elite is very tricky compared to the other Sovs I've done. I've only done two or three Elites and everytime I did I actually had to "break" the front plate away. It seems to have a post that sticks and is either glued or permenantly attached somehow. Be very careful if you attempt this as you may break something else in the process but I have always had the trouble you describe. It's almost as if Minelab did this on purpose with the Elite to prevent such a mod. Hope this helps and DO be careful! HH George Fatizzi

i didnt had any problem removing the front plate maybe its because i already send it for repair an they had to open it the first time????
i am not sure but i think ,i just lift the circuit board an unscrew the third screw thats it,,
be very carefull with the connector (where you plug the coil)since mine is broken an i didnt broke it ,it came back broken from minelab when i had it repair under warranty,,,,an after you replace the connector back to its place i suggest you put a bit of lock tight (the blue one)on the connector bolt...

There is a fourth screw beneath the circuit board. With care I was able to get the board out and access it. Once it was removed the faceplate came free easily.
Now to get the nerve to do the soldering bit...
