Iam used to finding Elizabeth I coins, but this 1601 Copper alloy Irish one is a little unusual in our part of the UK.

Very nice find! I can only dream of finding a coin from the 1600's. If only I can get a pinetree shilling underneath my coil :)

did you question whether or not to dig it?

Jerry, thats a very nice find mate especially when you are still out detecting at 82 :clapping:

Thanks Guys,

To answer Herb Jones.

I use a XP Deus and a new programme from Gary the Deus master.

"Sifter" programme with a coil frequency set at 7 kHz.

The sound was just a positive whisper and the depth very surprising.

No numeric`s showing on the screen, but showing a reading of non-ferrous.

Sitting on a broken stone base where 15-17th century home buildings once stood.

Other finds and pottery also came to light.

Most of our guys are now using the Deus and the finds seem to just keep popping up.
