Emergency gas fund

pennyfarmer

I have posted this picture in a few places on the net. This is a pretty cool find that I got this week. I did remove the dime because it had a "D" mint mark. I think it is a 1920 but I am still in the process of trying to remove the crap they used to stick it to the cap. Many have thought it was a gas can cap, and maybe it was stuck there in case they needed an extra gallon of gas. Either way I think it is a very exciting find just for the history lesson it teaches us. I agree Merc dime not a super find, Gas cap not a superfind. But in the context of today it is a very cool item.

I have to agree. In view of the times we live in and how the gas companies and such are sucking the money out of people's wallets and making 10,000,000,000 + quarterly. Ahhh, when gas was 10

I am 75 years old, I remember gas being as low as .09 per gallon in Miami when they had gas wars.

I'm 47 and clearly remember when a can of soda from the vending machine was 15 cents, I used to buy a pack of baseball cards for 5 cents. Those were good days!
