Enamelled Plate.

JBM

New member
The old Enamelled coppper alloy plate came up from 8"
It still had a piece of the red material at its back.
Only dssappointment was the upper locking ring cracked and it was only lighty hand turned.
It seems that a number of these are brittle and cracking have any of you guys had this problem.?Jerry.

oops must be getting tired folks.:throw:

Its the T2 upper locking ring thats has cracked 3 of us in one day have had it happen, will talk to the dealer tomorrow.

Wrapped it in electrical tape for tomorrows trip its all very sad as all three are brand new machines and finding plenty of bits and pieces.

Night All,

Jerry.

Haven't had trouble with the locking ring but the lower shaft and the loop connector was getting loose, so I wrapped it up good with electrical tape. I wanted to make sure it didn't break. I don't want to have to send it back. I may even order the lower shaft just in case.

this does seem to be a problem with the latest batch of T2's to arrive in the u.k 3 have broken to my knowledge in the first week ,yet i have not heard of this problem before any american machines suffering the same fault

I'm pretty rough on my loop, so that is probably why the connection started to get loose. It is still a good idea to wrap the lower shaft, where the plastic connection go into the lower shaft and wrap it with electrical tape to add strength.

Morning Jeff and all its 4 that I know of and I expect the phones will be buzzing to day.

No way do I want to fit a Minelab Musky upper locking ring to my T2, when a detector that technically is as good as the Green Lady is sold it deserves better component quality than this.

Iam sure that we can fit our own if First Texas supply them to us it may also be worth us carrying a spare.

Meanwhile I will out today with her taped up and hope that the bottom locking ring does not crack up on me.

Talk later.Jerry.

dick this seems to be a batch problem ,its happening to a lot of the first batch of u.k legal machines supplied just over a week ago .the older ones supplied pre-xmas dont have the problem

Its interesting to note that its only the top ring that goes.

If All these guys were over tightening them them some bottom ones would also have cracked.

Whoever supplies them To Teknetics must have produced a batch to a different plastic specification to earlier supplies making them more brittle.

A softer plastic would have allowed some minute flexibility and overcome the problem.

If this product component was in the Aircraft industry each batch
would be checked to see if they were up to specification.

I would not be surprised if these plastic rings were produced in a cottage industry in the Far East on a wing ad a prayer.

Why Iam writing this mail I have just had a call to say that there are others in the UK with the same problem.

I will be dropping line to First Texas as bad news travels fast and this detector is technically a damn good product and deserves better.Jerry.
