Enviromental Cover - Anyone Else Struggle to Get This Thing On?

MNetrac

New member
Okay, not the most sexy topic, but I feel like I am goign to break the etrac when I try to get the environmental cover on. I don't like to expose the housing to rain (even just mist) but I just cannot get the cover on - I can only get it part way on.

Is there some simple trick to getting the cover on that I am just missing? Thanks for the help!

MNetrac, I do not think there is any trick to it, They just plain do not fit. Back when I bought my e-trac in aug. 2010 I got a free minelab cover from the dealer and could not get it to fit at all. I too thought I was going to break my detector. I called them and they said they had a bunch of complaints about them fitting. They replaced it with one made by sun ray which is in my opinion is the best one made. I would have thought minelab would have fixed the problem by now? For what they cost I would replace the minelab cover with a sun ray cover. Good luck and HH.

Okay, thanks for confirming. That stinks but you guys are right - cheap to fix.

I had no problem either. I got my etrac in November, maybe they fixed the problem, because mine goes on and off without any problem. Mine was also a Minelab cover.

Maybe they have fixed the problem now. I bought mine in May of last year.

I wish there was one that was a little easier to see through in direct sunlight. I use the SunRay cover and sometimes it impossible to see the screen. Normally, not an issue, but when I go to quick mask to verify a signal I need to see if it's a 12-46 or a 35-46. Anyone know of one that you can actually see through?

I have an after market Pro-Tector on mine (from England) they work great! I also have the sleeve that covers the grip and battery compartment so I'm fully protected in the rain and mud. It's a little expensive, but I thought it was better than jacking up the detector in a Spring rainstorm that comes on all of a sudden.
