Equinox Audio response question....

Sube has been doing lots of testing and posting videos on the CTX forum. The target trace mode of the CTX has the ability to show a target ID for a ferrous target co-located with a non-ferrous target, even when the ferrous target is perpendicular to the center coil web. The CTX does not have the ability to provide an audio signal for such a target, making it's usefulness in the field extremely limited.

The older FBS series detectors could provide an audio response if the ferrous target was pretty much parallel to the center web of a DD coil and there was some of the non ferrous target that was not totally covered by the ferrous. Basically meant you could only get a signal from a very narrow angle of attack, hit it from another angle and no response what-so-ever.

If Minelab can show this on visual ID target trace there should be a way to produce an audio response. This would totally be a game changer for detecting.

Has anybody reading up on the Equinox determined if they've done anything in this regard, or do we need to wait for the CTX-3031 or longer?

IIRC you can use 1-5 tones or 50 tones. There seems to be no means of seeing or hearing CO & FE like the FBS MD's
Again IIRC you can adjust tone break & tone audio level. BUT with the higher processing speed in theory you should
be able to pull out 2 distinctive targets. Since CO & FE are different responses I am sure they measure both but the data
only goes as far as the software but not the user.
IMHO of course.
