Turnmaster, you are right... there was and still is gold in the land but is high in the mountains in some protected areas (national reservations) where I am not allowed to dig...
Anyway I am shore it is allot out there in free areas... and the most accessible are the rivers that are coming from the mountains...
I built me a sluice box with a 12 volt pump and a scooter battery and got to a river that is coming from the mountains ... the mountains are 200 km from where i was. The high banker build by me allowed me to install it where i wanted... close to the sand and material and for 3 hours I washed material. I got the concentrated home and built me a blue bowl and run the concentrate... I found 10... 15 flakes of gold... fine but it is gold... then... when I was visiting some friends maybe 100 km from where the river come from mountains... i got 2 buckets of sand from river and run it home in sluice and blue bowl and i found 2 flakes bigger than the ones from here... .but still small... I will try closer to the mountains next... maybe this year if is not snowing soon.
I found some articles in media that there are still 2 villages in the mountains with the villagers that are washing sand from one river (Topolog... next to Olt) and with some wood panns are able to get 1... 2g of gold by day. I will try to go there too.

Maybe I am off topic... sorry... I think you guys would like to know this things...

Adi,
Try crushing your sand and see if you can get any more Gold that way. I have read that by soing so you will release some more Gold. Hard to pan though as it will be very small.

I know that and I am saving all the black sand to do something with it when I have allot. I will try first to crush it and after maybe some chemicals, under direct supervision of a specialist.
For now I hunt for flakes that I can see, but the flakes are so small... If I do not find a location with more gold, the chances are for me to get 1 gram in 30 days of work
I am optimist that I will find a place with more because it is strange that in every sand I search, in every part of the river I find small specs almost in every pann.
There has to be a place where this is coming from, up river, and in that part the flakes have to be larger.

Anyway, it is nice to be out in the nature and try to find gold in river... I recommend it strongly

I guess my point was that it may or may not be worth the time to harvest the sand, instead of hunting for the flakes. I have read that some times the heavy sands have a tiney Gold piece inside of them, and sometimes enough to be worth the effort to process for their Gold content. That is what I am going to do sometime this week in my free time. I'll let ya know when I find out, probably next week.

I am curious what you will find. It depends what quantity of black sand you process, and what is the content of gold in it... I guess you know from the number of flakes found in the first place.
I went to the mountain and in 1 hour i found few flakes that I am happy with. I did not had enough time to prospect more areas... the distance and the weather did not let me... but it is clear... closer to the mountain are bigger flakes... The concentration is not significant, and I think I will try to process more material for small flakes to worth the effort. This is why I am interested in what you will find out. Let me know what you do.

I want to learn what the concentration ofGold particles in the .02mm to .04mm range is. Gold dust so to speak. It is a difficust task but for some it has been rewarding.
