Eric , What do you think of a Meter system on a PI

I think that due to the nature of pulse induction it would be nearly impossible. This is my understanding: VLF detectors measure the phase shift in a target vs. the surrounding soil. Different metal targets cause different shifts in the phase . There is no phase shift in PI. Pulse Induction detectors work on pulses that are shot into the soil. The way they detect metals is by the decay of the signal getting interrupted by metal targets and reflected back to the coil which is translated into a beeping sound of the detector.

White's TDI PI detectors do have two different tones for high conductive and low conductive targets allowing limited ID.

And so as you say there is a way to differentiate the metals with sound . Not that big of a leap to do with a meter. I have a guy that has a machine he built that does just that in a crude way. wanna pic?

the arado 320 has a meter ,it says it has 2 detectors working in tandem .

The 320 is not a P.I. This Arado like many of the early Arado's is a VLF with a primary all metal search mode operating at all times so you hear all the metal both good and bad thats in the soil. Discrimination is by refering to the meter which I.D.'s the target as ferrous or non ferrous.

No phase angle, talk to Prospector AL or the guy building the Pulse Devil.
