ETRAC BATTERY ?

can I ask what you guys like as far as batteries go?I like the 1800mah but how about recharging batteries? what is rec?

I bought two (2) of the 1600 mAh rechargeable battery packs when I bought my ETrac. I have yet needed to use the second battery on a hunt. I did completely drain on of the packs on a hunt of about 7 hours. That is continous use AND with a Sun Ray X-1 probe drawing power from it. I dont think you can go wrong with the rechargeable minelab battery packs. It does take quiet some time to charge them back up though and thats part of the reason I bought two..........

I have two of the rechargeable packs when getting back from a longer hunt 4 hours or so I take it out charge it and put the fresh one in, I also keep the slim pak ready too.

I was just wondering if anyone has maybe thought of the litium poly batts,or others that might be a little cheaper than spending 90.00 on a new 1800mah?

I use nothing but AA batteries. The best I've found for all my battery needs is the Walgreens alkaline batteries. They last longer than any of the top brand batteries I have tried. Excellent price too. Picked up 4 packs last week of 36 @ 10.00 per pack and 8 will last about 18 to 20 hours of detecting. The rechargeable's are horrible imo of any type

The rechargeable battery packs are great in my book! I have 2, the 1600 that came with it and an 1800 that I bought used on flea-bay. If you want one, buy it used and save some big bucks. I always keep one cahrged. When the one in my machine gets low, I swap for the fresh one and put the old one on the car charger. Then the next time I have a fresh one in the machine and a charged one in my bag.

If you hunt alot, the cost of batteries will quickly gets expensive. Personally, I have never found those walgreens batteries to be worth a chit. Much lower power and shorter life than a duracell or energizer. I guess you can pay alot for a good one or buy a lot more of the cheap ones. Probably a wash in the end, but still more expensive than using the rechargables.

My son did a school project on alkaline batteries at a science fair and they put in kroger batteries versus the energizer and duracell into a light that you push on, the kroger batteries outlasted both of the name brands by a couple of hours. But in my mind the rechargeable battery packs are no brainers they last forever.

If you want to go rechargeable AA's, the only way to go is the new RayOvac Hybrid. Got mine from Amazon and have been very happy with their performance. I only hunt about 3 to 4 hours at a time and they are still 3/4 full when I quit.

PS I have used probably every rechargeable over the years and nothing has ever compared to this battery.
