when I see posts saying they've "upgraded" from an X-TERRA to another detector. They show us some finds they made with the "new" detector, from places they claim were "hunted to death" with their X-TERRA. Funny thing is, they usually go back again and again with that new detector, and continue to find yet more coins. I always wondered......."if the new machine is so much better, how can they still continue to find coins at those same sites, with every return visit? If it were so much better, how could that "new" detector miss them on the previous hunts? If there is a reason, why doesn't that same "logic" apply to the previous trips with the X-TERRA? Could it be that they just didn't put the coil over the target? I admit that I still find coins in sites that I've hunted for the better part of 40 years. Most of them in acres and acres of tilled soil. But I'll also admit that it has as much to do with the the "performance" of the detectorist as it does the performance of the detector. I've done hundreds of hours of "head to head" testing, much like you and Des demonstrated in your video. I start with one detector, find a target, mark it and recheck it with the other detector before digging. Doesn't matter which one I start with or which one I confirm with. They both are excellent detectors. And neither one is a compromise. JMHO HH Randy
