ETRAC

Whats up with all the E trac's being sold now? Is there a problem with that detector anyone heard anything? I am interested in them but all these people selling have me concerned? Anyone know anything?

Thanks KCK/Ohio

I've had my etrac since Sept. No problems at all with mine. I like it a lot, as I've found several good coins, in areas that me and many others have pounded with our XS or Ex IIs. Very satisfied with mine. Seems some people don't adjust to this machine after they had gotten used to the Explorer series machines. I kept my XS for a backup and keep it in my work truck in case an unexpected chance to detect arises, but like the Etrac better.

I've had mine for a little over a month, took some time to get used too but I'm finding lots of items that I passed up with the other machines I've used in the past. I also learn evey time I take it out and from what I read others post here. I think that the ones you are seeing for sale are from-
1) people who never gave it a chance...not the E-Trac to work but the people to get used to what the E-Trac is telling them.

2) people hearing the hype about the E-Trac, going out and buying one and not knowing what they were doing in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I would like to see these folks do good but they just did not give it enough time with the E-Trac and had no one to help them.

If you are thinking about getting one I think that you will not be sorry at all. Get andy's book as well.....big help.

Any of the top of the line machines are quite good if a person takes the time to use and learn them and put them in sites that have something to find.I have had my E-Trac for about 6 month and that was through the winter months in MO and it is an awsome machine and not hard to learn at all.I have found hands full of old coins at many hard hit sites and won't be selling any time soon.Another reason for selling is the recession we are in and the many lost jobs that go with it.

Same here, I wont be selling mine. I think that some of these people have seen a "Vision". I say get lightly used Etrac, take advantage of the situation and save yourself enough to take a detecting trip somewhere!! They are excellent detectors!

I see a few used E-Trac's offered on the classified forum here. Are those the ones you're referring to?
A quick check on the nation's most popular on-line auction site shows there is one used one for sale. One.
Out of all the E-Trac's sold, I would offer that these make up an extremely small percentage.

If we were in a court of law, I would say you are wanting us to assume facts not yet introduced into evidence.

I've just had my E-Trac for about two weeks now (sold my DFX) its a great unit, twice the machine as the Whites, first coin I dug with it was a nickel standing on its side at 7", ended up digging up 6 nickels that afternoon, never done that with a White before let alone standing on its edge, let'em sell'em, leaves more for us after they hunt out a park.

I recall an old buddy with that handle.....got thrown 'in the sin bin' several years ago, on the DFX forum?

Do you still own a big digger?

Have I got it wrong again?

Hope not....enjoyed your company.................TheMarshall

I was out today with the E-trac and a buddy had his White's DFX 300.

We were comparing targets as to if one machine could see a target that the other could not.

The results are that the E-trac was able to see targets that the DFX kind of / sort of saw and there were a few that the DFX could not see at all. The ones that could not be seen were next to other targets such as nails or can slaw.

There were no targets that the DFX could see that the E-trac could not. The DFX was dead on with most of the ID's and so was the E-trac. Tabs were a problem for the E-trac because we were at a former trailer park that was also a long time ago a fairground area. The tabs gave both machines fits and many of the tabs and aluminum caps were deep due to them being dozed under within the last decade. Lots of digging for sure.

It was not a scientific test. We just wanted to see the differences.

We will be going out again at another site to see if it was just site conditions. It may be that.

My buddy loves his DFX but he had to admit that the E-trac had it over on his machine today.

Here's what I found with the E-trac. Most were lower than 5 inches down. I even found an Australian 1942 three pence and a 1948 Canadian King George penny. A couple of firsts for me. The V-nickle is my 15th with the E-trac. Seems to be able to find deep nickles easily.

Steve i believe what you are saying about your comparison tests with the dfx and e- trac , personally i believe the explorers and e track generally for coin shooting on grass land are better than the whites dfx especially the discrimination on the minelabs is unbeatable. I know because i have owned all of these detectors, i sold my se and explorer 2 last year. Pretty amazing what the explorers /e- trac can do with regards to discrimination , they give you hell of a lot of information of what is buried down there. I once buried a coin at 5 inches in the back garden to compare signals with the dfx and explorer se, i will be totally honest here and say that the dfx would sound off on the coin but not even a whisper could be heard from the se. Why no response from the se i don't know i was very surprised.
What i am saying is that doing 1 single test in a specific area of land comparing 2 machines of different makes does not prove a great deal. The dfx audio was never smooth like the minelab multifreq machines from minelab thats something i like about the minelabs the lovely smooth sounds.

Hey Ashdigger, I was glad to be with you on your E-trac's maiden voyage. I can tell already you are going to become a Minelab lover like me.

I look forward to many more hunts together.

Isn't the "Vision" minelab technology anyway????

Brad

I am a huge E-Trac foan but will have a Vision also.

And no it is totaly different and way more adjustable than the E-Trac. Not saying better just more stuff to play with.
