I had a couple of Etracs sold them kept Safari. Bunker let me know what you think in a couple months of hunting a comparison of two.Make it fair use the 6X8 on both of them. Thanks Prep.

You got it Prep!

Hi Prep,
What made you keep the Safari over E trac, I am curious as I use the Safari and am happy with it but have been thinking I am missing out on finds and was considering trying to upgrade to E trac.
Is it not worth the extra money for the performance?
All the hype would suggest the E was far superior but I value experienced hands on user opinion more.
Cheers.

Same here.. Just to complicated or what?

Prep has talked about that quite a bit in the past. It is the same processor on both machines. So depth should be the same. He just didn't see the point in all the other bells and whistles for the extra money, if I remember correctly. He has pulled out some amazing finds with his Safari as well.

Bunker

So he bought them and then didn't see the point?

Trying to understand as I've thought about the Etrac and it's ID ability versus the Safari's music..

Its not that I did not like the extra features it is that at my skill level the extra features would not increase my depth or more recovery of coins in fact the constant playing with the Etrac was cutting down on my recovery time with no increase in depth.speed.It is a very nice detector, but I do not need it.Like I said before if and when someone builds a better detector than a Safari I will buy it. at this time there is no such detector out there. The Etrac,F75,705 are equal not better. Also There are a lot of people that bought Etracs and did not like them and sold them. I bought them made a nice profit reselling them. There is no detector out there that you can buy and turn on and have it match the skill level of veteran coinhunter you will have to pay your dues.

:stars: etrac and explorer are better at least you dont have to go to menu to change sensitivity. I dont understand why Minelab did quatro and Safary?? if they had explorer before? safary use the same boards like explorer and its the same deep and fast like explorer, but without good things

You are right the etrac is the same.I have a safari and my friends have an etrac and they are the same in depth.I find the same as they do at the same depth.I do not need all the extras I love the safari.

I have both the Safari and E-Trac. The depth is the same on both. Contrary to what some people believe that the E-Trac is difficult to use, it is easy to use.
I have great respect for the Safari which is fun to use. However, for me personally speaking, I can ID a coin better before I dig it and I'm about 80% sure
of what's in the ground. So, I have found more coins with the E-Trac than the Safari because it's easier for me to see the ferrous and conductive numbers
together with the multitude of tones that go with it. It's a matter of personal taste because both are great detectors. I , at my age, don't enjoy digging any
more holes that necessary and the E-Trac resolves this situation. The Safari will make great finds with the guidance of a person who knows his or her machine well.
For me it's easier and faster to use the E-Trac and for someone else it may be better to use the Safari. To each his own.

Sorry guys have not been on the Safari Forums not been coinhunting at all last 8 weeks.Been getting a lot of swinging time in locating utilities working about 60 hours a week at least I have some sort of detector in my hands. My RD 4000 locator weighs more than my Safari so I have my arm back in shape to hunt all day when I start hunting again. The Etrac has a lot of AUTO features and for 80 percent out there this is the detector for you.You will feel better knowing and hunt better knowing that you have the best detector with every option that will tell you more about your target before you dig it.Then you made your decision and decide not to dig because all the info the etrac gave you said not to dig.You will be missing a lot of good targets. The really good etrac user's have already figured that out and are telling you on there posts they are finding coins at some odd numbers and you really have to learn the sounds just like you have had to do the last 40 years or dig a lot of holes.I seen one etrac user that really impressed me I cannot remember who it was it was not his finds that impressed me it was his trash it was a 5 gallon bucket of pull tabs it was on one of the forums he understood that the etrac had great depth but limitations he still had to dig the junk but he could have got the same depth with a Safari.Remember the people who made the Safari and Etrac set the machines at best capabilities using the preset programs with Auto Sensitivity.I hate Auto it is depth robber and will get you to screw up your noise cancel set up before you start hunting with the Etrac or Safari. Most times I have already decided to dig a target by the sound before I have looked at ID.The next detector that comes out that can find a dime at 15 inches I am getting a shovel no more hand digger.
