Eurotek Pro first very quick run

I just got a Teknetics Eurotek Pro with the 11"DD coil and was all set to give it a try on my way home after getting blood drawn for my doctors appointment next week. As soon as I go out of my vehicle it started raining, I grabbed a plastic bag and put it over the control box, I only got to use it less than 10 minutes as the rain started coming down hard. I dug 3 high tone targets, one was a screw on pepsi cap, a clad quarter, and what I believe to be the top part of a watch (round piece of glass with some sort of metal around the outside of it. I couldn't see what the targets id' were the plastic bag I had over it was an orange bag and I couldn't see through it. As soon as the weather breaks I will be out with it again and add to my post.

Oops almost forgot to mention - I had the sensitivity on 9 discrimination on 0 and volume at 10. I was getting interference from something, I was getting a constant tick tick tick tick, this continued until I turned the sensitivity to 4, it was quiet at 4 but the tick tick tick would start again when I sit the detector down to dig my target. I will try it in a different area next time and see how it does, I could run the sens. at 9 when playing with it in my yard.

Use some DEET....hahaha......wait..that ain't funny..

Seriously though sounds like an electric dog fence or an electric livestock fence to me. I have run into a few...man they suck.

my thoughts too, sounds like a invisible dog fence to me causing the ticks.
I can answer for sure tomorrow when I hunt my dads yard. His neighbor has an invisible fence around his yard so I will know exactly how it messes with the Eurotek Pro if at all.

I can almost say for certain it isn't an invisible dog fence, cattle fence maybe but I don't think so. The area I used it at was a section of the fairgrounds where the carnies part their campers, there are some overhead power lines fairly close. When I go back I will bring my Tejon with me and try it in the same area, I have never had any interference with any other detectors I have used there but who knows maybe there is something there that wasn't before. I didn't have a cell phone with me or anything else that could cause interference.

Update - after talking to Roger (joe dirt_1) on the phone about the Euroteks I got an itch to try mine out again. I took it to another town to see if it was going to have emi/interference issues like it did earlier today at another place. I had no problems at all, I had the sensitivity set on 9 and it was calm as a cucumber. I handed it to my wife as it suppose to be hers and she did not like it. I think alot of it had to do with the DD coil, she has never used that type of coil before. The last DD coil I had was on a Minelab Musketeer Advantage which comes with a 7.25" coil I have to admit it took me awhile to get the hang of pinpointing with it, but got better with each target I dug. I asked my wife..... do you think you would like it better with a round coil and she said ummmmm I don't know I don't care for digital. The detectors that she has been using over the years are a Garrett Freedom Ace Plus and a Garrett Freedom 3 CoinCommander so the Eurotek is a big difference for her. I actually like it myself, it will take alittle getting used to the vco sound on nickels and other objects in that range. I ran the volume at 10 which silences the iron & it did a great job at it. I found a few coins at a good 6 or 7 inches deep, the id numbers locked on targets well wasn't much change in the numbers. I would like to have the 8" concentric coil for it to see if the wife would like it better, if it got the same depth I know that I would like the 8" more myself. I think anyone wanting a nice little detector without spending a fortune would be happy with the Eurotek. I have to admit that I am not a big digital, multi-tone, metered, fan but I do like the Eurotek the little that I have used it. Want to put a plug in for Bart of Big Boys Hobbies, I couldn't be happier doing business with him.

Put some tape over the screen for her :)
Nice write up. I recommend the concentric coil for pinpointing ease, but that is just me :)

My first trial was at my local park and I get EMI there sometimes (drove the DFX crazy) but the Eurotek ran quiet as a mouse. I have stayed away from the T2 because I heard it was so noisey so I was glad to see that the Eurotek was a lot quieter.

With my wife the screen has nothing to do with it as she doesn't aven look at it. With her old Garrett's she used she got a good strong solid hit or nothing at all. The newer hotter detectors will hit hard, soft and anywhere in between, hard to put in words but I know how she likes a detector to run., she isn't one for change or learning anything different. I don't mind a DD coil but I like to size targets and DD coils make it a bit harder to do especially larger ones, still a very good coil but takes getting used to after using a round concentric for so long.

That right there is good news!-----Was you using the 11" coil & how high was you able to run sensitivity?

Just wanted to say that even though it isn't a huge deal but I like where they put the headphone jack and how they positioned it and the protective cover it has over it. I forgot to mention that when I was air tested it I pushed a nickel in the ground on edge & it hit it very well. I was using the 11"DD coil, I have an 8" coil coming for it and will test them against each other. More to come...................................
P.S. I forget what forum or who posted it but I was reading where someone made a reply about the Eurotek, he wasn't putting it down or anything but said that there is alot of hype on the forums about the detector. I just wanted everyone to know that anything I say about my Eurotek or any other detector for that matter I post about is the truth at least the truth how they do while using them in my ground & am sure that you folks here in the forum are the same. If I have something good to say I will and the same goes for anything I don't like.
